What is SpiderMonki? SpiderMonki is free tool to spider and download content from the Internet. It's basically a download manager, search engine crawler and offline browsing tool combined into one software product. However, it is not an off-line Web page browser. It's primary purpose is to download content. Why would I need a tool like this? It saves you time. Here are a few examples: Let's say you go to one of your favorite Web sites and want to download the images. How long would that take you? With SpiderMonki, all you have to do is enter in the URL, select a few check boxes and click the "Download Now" button. It will retrieve the images for you.   How about going through search engine results? Let's say you're looking for PDFs on network security. All the good stuff is on PDFs right? How long would that take? Are you willing to go to hundreds of sites, going from page to page, looking for documents? I don't think so. With SpiderMonki's integrated search engine feature, it can go through the search engine results for you and provide you with a list of PDFs to download.   How about downloading audio files and sharing them with your friends? Let's say you find a Web site with a ton of files on it and you download it. How do you get those files to your friends? With SpiderMonki, all you have to do is send them the list of each file's URL. They can use SpiderMonki to download the files directly. This all sounds great, but why are you giving it away for free? Isn't there a catch? I needed a tool like SpiderMonki, but couldn't find one that I liked, so I built my own. The Internet has given me a lot in terms of knowledge, entertainment and free software over the years, that I felt like returning the favor and giving it away. There isn't a catch and never will be. Version 1.x will always be free. If it becomes really popular and people want to see a version 2, I think I'll have to start charging a fee to offset the cost of my time. After all, I built version 1 for myself.
